Tokyo Skytree, the world’s tallest freestanding broadcasting tower at 634 meters, is a top Tokyo attraction that draws visitors from Japan and around the world. The view of Tokyo from the observation decks is breathtaking, and on a clear day you can see across the Kanto Plain. With shopping, great food, and even an aquarium, Tokyo Skytree is packed with things to do. But with all that, the “Tokyo Skytree night view” is also a major highlight. The night skyline from Tokyo Skytree, along with the illuminated tower itself, are must-sees for any Tokyo trip. In this article, we’ve carefully selected the best spots to enjoy Tokyo Skytree night views to the fullest.

Only Tokyo Skytree, standing 634 meters tall, offers night views like these. If you’re visiting Tokyo Skytree, don’t just enjoy the daytime views, shopping, and food — make time for the stunning night skyline from the tower, too.
Start with the Tembo Deck on Floor 350, where you can take in Tokyo’s night views from 350 meters up. The deck is wrapped in glass, so you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama of the city after dark. From clusters of skyscrapers to long stretches of expressway and illuminated bridges along the Sumida River, the night scene from 350 meters above ground is unforgettable. On the same floor, “SKYTREE CAFE 350” serves beer and wine, so you can relax with a drink while taking in the view.

The “Tembo Shuttle” is Tokyo Skytree’s elevator connecting the Tembo Deck on Floor 350 and the Tembo Galleria on Floor 445. With glass walls inside the elevator, you can see Tokyo’s night views as you ride, giving you the sensation of drifting through a sparkling cityscape.

The Tembo Galleria is a sloped corridor stretching Approx. 110 meters from Floor 445 to Floor 450, where you can enjoy an “in-the-sky” stroll with beautiful night views. Only here can you experience the night skyline from 450 meters up, 100 meters higher than the Tembo Deck. At 450 meters, even the tallest buildings feel like miniatures.

After enjoying the night views from Tokyo Skytree, finish by relaxing on the sofa seats on Floor 340 while taking in the skyline. This hidden gem lets you look out over Tokyo’s night views from a romantic space softly lit with warm lighting. If you’re visiting as a couple, it’s a spot you won’t want to miss.

Photo tip: Arrive 45–60 minutes before sunset to enjoy golden hour → sunset → blue hour in one visit. Bring a microfiber cloth to reduce window glare.
After enjoying the night skyline from Tokyo Skytree, head outside to admire the illuminated tower itself. Here are our handpicked night-view spots for stunning views of Tokyo Skytree lit up at night.
At the rooftop plaza of “Oshiage Station Bicycle Parking,” about a 5-minute walk from Oshiage Station on the Toei Asakusa Line, you can enjoy Tokyo Skytree’s illumination up close. The rooftop plaza is open to the public, so you can enter even if you aren’t using the bike parking.

Jukkenbashi Bridge is a popular night-view spot where you can see the tower’s reflection in the water, known as the “upside-down Skytree.” It’s also easy to reach, just Approx. 10 minutes on foot from Tokyo Skytree.

From Azumabashi Bridge, located Approx. a 6-minute walk from Asakusa Station, you can take in a sweeping view of the illuminated Tokyo Skytree, nearby high-rises, the Sumida River, and the bridge itself. The night scenery, filled with the atmosphere of the Sumida River and Tokyo Skytree glowing above it, is not to be missed.

Sakurabashi Bridge, spanning the Sumida River, is a hidden gem where you can take a relaxed walk while enjoying night views of the illuminated Tokyo Skytree and the Metropolitan Expressway. The bridge itself is softly lit as well, creating a great mood, perfect for a couples’ night-view date. It’s a bit farther from the nearest station, so getting there takes some effort, but it’s still well worth the trip.

From the rooftop of Arcakit Kinshicho, a shopping mall next to the JR Kinshicho Station North Exit, you can enjoy a true “big city” night view of the illuminated Tokyo Skytree framed by buildings. The rooftop is only open until 7:00 pm, so this is a limited-time spot where you can enjoy night views only in fall and winter.

At Tobu Bridge, you can enjoy cherry blossoms and the illuminated Tokyo Skytree in spring. It’s within walking distance from Tokyo Skytree, so if you’re visiting Tokyo in spring, it’s well worth stopping by. It’s no exaggeration to say this is one of the best photo spots for capturing Japan’s iconic cherry blossoms alongside Tokyo’s symbol, Tokyo Skytree.

From Shioiri Park, you can take in the illuminated Tokyo Skytree, the Sumida River, and the Metropolitan Expressway from just the right distance. It’s also popular during the Sumida River Fireworks Festival in summer as a spot to watch the fireworks. If you’re visiting during festival season, it’s worth adding to your plans.

From Sumida Park, you can enjoy cherry blossoms lining the opposite bank of the Sumida River along with the illuminated Tokyo Skytree. Like Tobu Bridge, it’s an essential night-view spot if you’re sightseeing in Tokyo during cherry blossom season.

Tokyo Skytree’s lighting start time varies by season. In winter, when the sun sets early, it lights up around 4:30 pm, while in summer, when sunset is later, it lights up around 7:00 pm. Lights off is 12:00 am in every season. If you want to see Tokyo Skytree illuminated, keep these on/off times in mind when planning your trip. Also, the lighting design changes depending on the time and season, so be sure to check Tokyo Skytree’s official website as well.
